The Long Way Home
Due to worries about disappearing, endangered wildlife, I chose to head for Africa first. This, and not wanting to begin with a long sea voyage, dictated that ever eastwards would be my way.

From the pen
Here I relate and reflect on some of the twists and turns of the road, the ups and downs (mostly ups!) of my fortunes, the ins and outs of reaching my destinations, and the highs and lows (mostly highs!) of encounters with people, animals, illnesses, injuries, coincidences, surprises, shocks, providence, and the beauty of our planet.
From the Lens
I believe that the priority of a journey is to meet, see, feel, hear, and immerse myself in every experience to the maximum, and not to interpose a camera between it and me. However, I did feel compelled to record what images I could, to help illustrate my journey to people in the unfortunate position of not being able to undertake such a journey, and because some beautiful sights just cry out for capturing. Please remember, however, these photos are very secondary, and try to envision the real essence outside the frame creating the image.
